UNITED NATIONS BUILDING | HLW INTERNATIONAL
Long Island City, Queens, New York
The concept of the UN Building was to stack and arrange the complex program to promote interaction between the various groups using the building. Critical adjacencies, site lines, and flowing circulation aid to organize the building. The dynamic curtain wall shimmers and transforms, alluding to the water that both separates and connects the two New York UN buildings. An elegant modernist morphology carries forth the language set up by Corbusier and Harrison.
